Santa Margarita Ranch

South Texas' Famous "Golden Triangle"

Santa Margarita Ranch is located in South Texas along the Nueces River in the heart of what has become known as the Golden Triangle. "Of the 254 Texas counties, 71 percent of all Boone & Crockett Typical whitetail entries and 45 percent of all Non-Typical entries have come from a 13 county area known as the 'Golden Triangle' of South Texas" (Boone and Crockett Record of North American Whitetail Deer, 4th Edition, 2003). Even within this 13 county area, LaSalle County that is home to Santa Margarita has gained a reputation above the rest as a proven hotspot for producing giant trophy whitetails. For good reason, hunters from literally around the world flood the area every year to maximize their chances at taking a trophy of a lifetime.
At Santa Margarita however, the region's naturally superior genetics is only a building block for producing a population of trophy whitetails that surpasses all expectations. Through nutrition, culling, and our first-rate Scientific Breeding Program we closely manage the ranch's whitetails to provide every hunter with an unforgettable experience of South Texas hunting at its finest.

History of the Ranch
Though the current ownership of the ranch began only in 2002, the history of the land tells a fascinating story of South Texas that predates the modern era. The land Santa Margarita now sits on tells a dramatic story of South Texas clear back to the Republic of Texas, to the Civil War era, and on through the historic Texas cattle ranching and boom of the oil industry. The Civil War remains of Fort Ewell along with a modern monument still stand today along the Nueces river bank as a testament to the land's long history. Research into these stories provides the owners and clients alike with a surprising appreciation of their environment.
