SMR's breeder bucks represent the culmination of years breeding Texas' most productive bloodlines. We have focused on three primary blood lines that are legendary in Texas for consistently producing the kind of deer people want to see in their breed pens and their pastures. What this means for our clients is a breed stock that does more than just produce the rare big deer. Santa Margarita's breeders are proven producers whose appeal is more than skin deep. High scores are no longer rare in the deer industry and we pride ourselves on the proven record of our breeder bucks to throw generations of big deer with high survival rates in the field and visually impressive frames.
Our Boss line is a proven genetic for massive, typical framed deer with very consistent results. Highgate, a Boss grandson, continues to throw giant frames, long tines and heavy beams year after year. Windsor, a Highgate son, is a prime example although not unusual for Highgate's offspring. Slingshot represents another strand of the Boss line that builds on the big frame with offspring cresting the 300" mark at only 3 years old. Archer, a Slingshot son, was 310 5/8" @ 3 years old in 2010. The Flaco line, through Oscar, is another of Texas' most prolific blood lines with more and more beautiful deer from 200 to 300+ inches every year. Patron's line is a proven gene with deep roots in South Texas, producing gorgeous typicals and very consistent results.
Of course, the bucks are what make headlines in the deer breeding industry, but make no mistake about it: at SMR, we believe our does to be of equal or better quality as our bucks.
