SMR's breeding operation is dedicated to producing the largest typical framed deer nature will allow in a healthy deer. We have focused on three primary blood lines that are legendary in Texas for consistently producing the kind of deer people want to see in their breed pens and their pastures. These blood lines have allowed us to produce deer that are not only big and impressive, but are also at home on Texas ranches.
Boss is one of Tommy Dugger's famous blood lines. Boss has thrown generations of great deer through his sons Bodacious (234" @ 4) and Orange 811 (190" @ 4). Bodacious' beautiful frame graced the bags of Lyssy & Eckel Feeds for years and is clearly visible in his sons, grandsons and great grandsons. One of his grandsons is Highgate (208" @ 3), a 6x6 typical with good width and exceptional tine length. However, his most distinguishing characteristic is the way he carries his heavy mass throughout his beams and tines. Highgate is a primary breeder at SMR who consistently throws sons who look just like him. Through its AI program, SMR has also bred Highgate's half-brother, Charlie (226" @ 5), who has thrown numerous big deer. Kingston, a Charlie son born at SMR, was 255" @ 2 years old in 2010.On the Orange 811 side, SMR has two primary breeders who have been throwing extremely large deer: Kingsley, an O811 son, and Slingshot, an O811 grandson. Archer, a Slingshot son, was 311" @ 3 years old in 2010.
Flaco is another of Tommy Dugger's great blood lines. Flaco has thrown huge main framed deer throughout the blood line, including the legendary Dreambuck, a Flaco grandson who was 321" @ 4. One of Flaco's most famous sons was
Oscar (213" @ 5), whose daughters produced Mighty Oscar (a 300"+ buck) and EZ Money (303" @ 4), who himself threw another 300"+ buck. Oscar has thrown a slew of deer between 200" and 300", a number of whom are standing in the SMR breed pens. SMR owned Oscar from 2006 until February 2012. when he died at the ripe old age of 12.
SMR has also used its AI program to enhance its Flaco line. Ground Zero, a grandson of Flaco and half-brother of Dreambuck (321" @ 4), has been a primary AI breeder at SMR for several years. Ground Zero is known for his progeny, including EZ Money (303" @ 4), as described above.

Another AI focus is the Stickers line. Stickers was one of the biggest deer in Texas from 2005 until his death in 2010, scoring between 312" and 356" over that timeframe. SMR has a Stickers son and semen from two other Stickers sons, all three of whom came from Oscar daughters. The ranch also has semen from SOS (210" @ 2), another Stickers son who has been incorporated into the Stickers/Flaco breed plan.
Patron, another SMR breeder, is a son of Buddy (Buddy Jordan's namesake deer). Patron's son Playboy (213" @ 4) is another favorite breeder at SMR, and both he and Patron have thrown a large number of big framed deer at SMR.
